With a warm, deep voice (reminiscent of Nick Cave, Johnny Cash and Leonard Cohen) Barry is an highly accomplished electric and acoustic guitarist with exciting flamenco skills and also turns his hand to boogie and swing style piano, enabling him to expand his unique solo act into a complete ‘pianoman’ style repertoire.  His live musical backings (no backing tracks or loop-pedal trickery) are polished and his ability to move seamlessly from guitar to piano allow for a very broad range of styles and influences. Barry sings from the heart with tangible soul and emotion.

Playing his unique customised Cajon drum with his feet (providing kick-drum and snare) simultaneously while playing guitar or piano and singing, he creates a unique one-man-band sound. Barry has developed a prodigious repertoire of over 200 diverse songs, his strong textured voice makes him a natural for the songs of such distinct artists as Bob Dylan, Mark Knopfler (Dire Straits), J.J. Cale and Elton John.

With his deep love of the blues, Barry brings a bluesy tinge to his renditions of the evergreen popular songs – they sound true to the original spirit of the song, but are rendered with a unique approach that breathes a new life into your favourite classics.

Barry appeared as a vocalist in the original production of “Jesus Christ Superstar”, was a member of 80s chart toppers “the Ferrets”, opened for Ry Cooder at the Palais Melbourne, toured Australia as band leader and guitarist for the legendary diva Eartha Kitt, and toured Europe & the UK.

He was a recording artist for RCA, appearing on the ABC’s legendary music show “Countdown” and has opened for Split Enz, Cold Chisel, the Divynals, Icehouse, the Black Sorrows, Dragon, and backed Dobie Grey (“Drift Away”). He has won 7 NCEI “Dolphin” Awards for his song-writing.
